NDC by Closed

As a clothing brand, Closed dates back to the late Seventies and originated out of Italy. The brand quickly captured the market with their new denim design approach which has been the first alternative to ordinary 5-pocket jeans.

Denims and chinos are Closed’s core competences. The idea behind every new design is “form follows function” and this approach resulted in the DNA of the brand – the X-Pockets.

The Design Studio has been searching postal worker’s uniforms in the early Eighties and the outcome is a jeans involving 27 different fabric sections, rather than the standard 16, and this new design featured the Pedal Pusher. Discreetly angled at 33°, these pockets allow for easier access whilst remaining flat-fronted. The famous and iconic X-Pockets were born.

Military uniforms are one of the main inspirations for the chino part. With an archive of more than 1000 designs Closed involves constant research based on every day wearability.

Besides the new design approach Closed stands for innovative dyeing techniques. The brand is equally recognised in the formative years for their stone wash technique. A finish that every denim manufacturer adopted throughout the late Seventies and Eighties. Garment dying techniques in different variations create authentic clothes which look like your favourite piece since years.
