How to choose the perfect pair of sunglasses that fit the shape of your face?

Are you looking for a new pair of sunglasses, but don't you know which type suits you? It’s always a difficult search to find something that fits you perfectly. That’s why we would like to help you in YOUR search! We have listed the most important tips for you below!

The shape

The general guideline is: choose sunglasses with lines that are opposite to the lines of your face. So if you have a round face, choose 'angular' frames; if you have an angular face, choose rounder frames. But there are, of course, more detailed rules.

^{Round-shaped face}

Rectangular and square sunglasses look very good with round face shapes because they make your face optically longer and narrower.

Tip: Try to avoid round glasses. These have the opposite effect and emphasize the round shape of your face.

^{Oval-shaped face}

If you have an oval face, you should consider yourself lucky. Almost all frames look good on this face! So you can experiment and choose what you like.

Tip: Butterfly frames and rectangular sunglasses are recommended as they accentuate the shape of your face.

^{Heart-shaped face}

As with a heart, the face narrows towards the chin. So the forehead and cheekbones are wider than the jaw. Rounder sunglasses soften the facial lines on a heart-shaped face.

Tip: Sunglasses with a lot of frills on the top are less suitable for you. With this, you put the accent on the widest part of your face.

^{The size}

If you have a big nose it’s better to opt for large sunglasses, if you have a small nose it is best to choose sunglasses that you wear a little higher on your nose bridge and preferably in a light color. This makes the nose appear longer.

Do you have a relatively large face? Then you can very well wear supersize sunglasses because they make your face look smaller. If you have a small face, be careful with large sunglasses because your whole face will disappear behind them.

^{The colour}

A distinction is made between 'warm' and 'cold' types. Whether you are a 'warm' or 'cold' type is determined by your skin colour, eye colour and hair colour.

Warm types usually have a peachy skin tone and golden blonde or brown-black hair. Cold types have a bluish or reddish undertone to their skin colour and ashy blonde or bald black hair.

In general, it is best to choose a sunglass frame that matches your 'colour type'. So warm types may well like ‘warm' coloured sunglasses frames such as gold, copper and golden brown. Cold types should choose cool colours like black, blue-grey and pink.
